Carol Calvin
My name is Carol Calvin, I have been oil painting since I was a teenager! I am now 85 so I have a lot of experience as far as my love for art and oil painting. My Grandma O’Brien gave me a gift of painting lessons when I turned 13. That gift lasted a lifetime. Her enthusiastic encouragement after seeing my first painting led me to continue to paint throughout the years.
In the 1980’s I opened a studio in Delaware, Ohio where I gave lessons and continued to learn and develop.
My son Tim, who is a carpenter, was working on a building in downtown Delaware, Ohio that the owner wanted refurbished. To his surprise he uncovered a mural. The owner insisted it be preserved and touched up, so my son called me in to help. You can still see that mural today. I have displayed my work at Source Point and also taught classes there for a few years.
I am thrilled to be a part of The Tiny Gallery and hope that young people continue to get excited about art!

From a young age, I've been infatuated with the arts, everything from music to fashion, dance to creating. I had an amazing art teacher in high school that infatuation into passion with her support encouragement. It was under her teaching I excelled in art when everything else in life seeming to be failing. After high school, my dreams were for an art career and in pursuit of this I briefly attended the Columbus College of Art and Design. However, these were turbulent years of my life and I quickly realized that I needed to replace my dreams with reality and survival, financially, mentally and emotionally.
Fast forward 25 years, and art has resurfaced in my in a big way. I've made some amazing connections through art and amazing opportunities have presented themselves. I have years of suppressed creativity and ideas waiting to be shared with you and I believe art, like feelings, has no right or wrong.
I enjoy working with a variety of mediums with primary emphasis on acrylic painting, mixed media and collage. I find that I really enjoy incorporating fabrics, buttons, and other accessories into my art and believe that this is my deep love for fashion, eclectic color, patterns and design surfacing in my artwork.
Art for me is meditative and provides me an immense therapy and healing yet feeds my soul in a way that nothing else does. Although I can find inspiration in a vast variety of places, most of my art ideas come from my imagination and are brought to life by color, emotion, whimsy, and expressionism.
